What a very fitting day it was in Honiton as we welcomed so many OHs to the Memorial Service for OHs and our dear former Allhallows Master and friend, Derek Blooman. The warmth in the church was a fitting tribute to a man who gave so much to Allhallows and to this club over so many years.

Before the service, many OHs enjoyed a fabulous lunch together at the Hare & Hounds, with plenty of laughter and reminiscing, exactly the gathering Derek would have relished.

The readings were wonderful. Peter Larkman, former Headmaster of Allhallows, shared some truly moving stories of his time working alongside Derek. At the same time, Alec Crawford (Headmaster's House 1955, Venning 1956–60) complemented these with fabulous stories of Derek's life and times, tracing his journey to Allhallows via Oxford University and Clayesmore School. Between them, they painted a vivid picture of a much-loved colleague and friend.

Our sincere thank-yous must go to all the OHs who attended; to the Reverend Chris Vallins OH, who led the service so warmly; to Peter Larkman and Alec Crawford for their wonderful, warm words about Derek; and to all the wonderful supporters at St Paul's Church, Honiton, who arranged tea for OHs after the service, allowing everyone the chance to catch up properly.

We will be writing a full report soon, including a list of those who attended. We will also make a full recording of the service available for those who could not attend, and also a video of the day.
