Michael David Corbett Edwards (C.56-61)
The Club regrets to announce the death of M.D.C. (David) Edwards who died on 27th May in hospital in Penarth after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson's disease.
David came to Allhallows with an Entrance Exhibition and joined the Headmaster's House in September 1956 and then later moved to Chudleigh. He became a House Prefect in 1959 and School Prefect and Head of House in 1960. He was Sub-Librarian from 1958-60 and won the Middle Classics Prize in 1958 and the Byrde Memorial Prize for Classis in 1959. He won the Shelton Roper Aggar Senior Elocution Prize in 1961.
David was a member of numerous clubs and societies including the XX Club (Secretary), Debating Society, Projector Committee, Dramatic Society, Orchestra, Rousdon Rhythmics, School Choir, Choral Society and Sceneshifters.
David won his 1st XI Cricket Colours in 1960-61, 1st XV Colours 1959-60 and 1st XI Hockey Colours in 1961. He was a member of the successful Bisley shooting eight and won his 1st VIII Shooting Colours in 1959.
After leaving Allhallows David went on to Bristol University. His love of acting in school plays under the direction of Horace Lee resulted in him following a career of teaching stage production and lighting - ultimately becoming Head of Department at the Welsh College of Music and Drama and Assistant Principal, and in 2020 receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Stage Management Association.
David will be sadly missed by his family and by his many students who came to know him. The Club extends its condolences to all his family and friends.
