Peter Read (C 1964-67)

Peter Read sadly passed away on April 28th after a long battle with leukaemia.

Peter joined the Headmaster's house in May 1965 and entered Chudleigh House the following September.

He excelled at cricket, winning senior Colts colours in 1966. A brilliant rugby player, Peter won the junior Boardman Cup 1964, Senior Colts Colours 1965, 2nd XV Colours 1966 and First XV Colours 1967.

On leaving the school in December 1967 he had a short spell working at Harrods before training as a Solicitor in London. It was about this time that he was introduced to his future wife Denise, who was a college friend of Robert Morton (v.1964-67).

After qualifying Peter worked for several London firms as well as one in Camberley before establishing his own practice in Twickenham. Here he earned an excellent reputation for professionalism and a caring ethos with his clients.

Outside work Peter was a keen and accomplished golfer, playing in many locations in the world and captaining the Law Society Golf Club.

Peter spent many happy times relaxing with family and friends in their apartment in Marbella.

His funeral at St Francis de Sales Church, and afterwards at his Golf Club, was attended by over 100 people including several O.H’s.

He is survived by his wife Denise, a daughter, 3 sons and 6 grandchildren.
