Simon Blake Claro (Shallow 1982 - 86)

Simon Blake Claro
1969 – 2026

Simon Blake Claro was a proud Old Honitonian of Allhallows School, where he was a member of Shallow House from September 1982. From an early stage of his school life, Simon distinguished himself through leadership, commitment, and an enduring love of sport.

He was appointed House Prefect in September 1986, a role that reflected the respect he earned from both peers and staff. Simon embraced school life fully and was particularly passionate about sport, with cricket at the very heart of his Allhallows years.

An outstanding cricketer, Simon enjoyed a highly successful career at the school. He played in the Junior Colts, winning the Boardman Cup in 1984, and served as Junior Colts Captain that same year. Progressing through the ranks, he went on to play for the Senior Colts, securing the Harding Cup in 1985. His talent and dedication were recognised with 2nd XI Colours in 1985, followed by 1st XI Colours in 1986–87. Simon captained the 1st XI during the 1986–87 season and led the side to victory in the Prentice Cup in 1986, achievements he was rightly proud of.

Beyond cricket, Simon also represented the school in squash. He took great enjoyment in his involvement with the Combined Cadet Force (CCF), valuing the camaraderie and sense of service it fostered.

Simon will be remembered as someone who loved sport wholeheartedly, particularly cricket, and who gave his time, energy, and leadership generously to school life. His enthusiasm, team spirit, and commitment left a lasting impression on those who knew him, and he remains fondly remembered within and beyond the OH community.
