Rosemary Sidwell (nee Shallow) (Junior House 1940)

It is with great sadness that we announce that the club heard about the recent passing of Rosemary Sidwell (née Shallow), who died on 25 November at the age of 92.

Rosemary was the daughter of George and Phyllis Shallow. Her father, George Shallow, was Headmaster of Allhallows School from 1934 to 1948 and was responsible for the school’s move from Honiton to Rousdon. In 1940, at the age of seven, Rosemary became the first girl to be educated at Allhallows School; her entry in the Allhallows School Register and Record is 1752A.

Following their retirement to Sidmouth, Rosemary and her husband, Colonel Richard Sidwell RM OBE, remained closely involved with the school until its closure. In later years, they were regular and much-valued attendees at Old Honitonian gatherings and events in Devon.
