2016 Clay Pigeon Shoot
at Purbeck Shooting School, Puddletown Road, Wareham - Saturday 9th July 2016Jim Rowe reports: An overcast sky but dry and yet another hangover from the night before wetting the 4th Grandchild’s head – I’ll never learn but it was good at the time so a full English breakfast for £4.99 was just what the doctor ordered! Then out on the traps where Giles Hayne, Baker 1978, with his son, Ray, Georg Hayter, Venning 1965, Martin Boulden, Stanton 1981 and myself, Middlemist 1966 took aim! After 136 shots both Ray Hayne and myself only managed 29 clays each so yet again a draw and we both share the Tory Shield as winners for 2016. Thanks go to Giles for scoring and pressing the release button, George for the photography and making us laugh when he attempted to shoot a clay and fell over with the recoil and Martin for buying the beers at the Greyhound pub Winterborne Kingston afterwards. A brilliant venue and so easy to get too. Make sure you’re there next year even if it’s only for the cooked breakfast. You don’t have to actually own a gun, you can always borrow someone else’s on the day!
